İngilizcede 'be going to' gelecekle ilgili bir planı, niyeti, kararı veya tahmini belirtmek için kullanılır. Genellikle konuşma dilinde tercih edilir. Türkçeye '-ecek' eki ile tercüme edilir.

Gelecekle ilgili bir kararı, planı veya niyeti belirtmek için kullanılır.

・We are going to move to a new house next week.
› Gelecek hafta yeni bir eve taşınacağız.
Konuşma anındaki bir belirtiden dolayı gelecekte olacağını düşündüğümüz bir şeyi belirtirken kullanılır.
・I think he's going to resign.
› Bence istifa edecek.
・The weather is cloudy. It's going to rain.
› Hava bulutlu. Yağmur yağacak.
・Look out! You're going to fall down.
› Dikkat et! Düşeceksin.
・She's studied so hard, she's going to pass the exam.
› O çok çalıştı, sınavı geçecektir.
Gelecekte gerçekleşecek bir olayı haber ederken kullanılır.

› Film beş dakika sonra başlayacak.
・They are going to have a meeting tomorrow.
› Yarın bir toplantı yapacaklar.
・The company is going to launch the new product next week.
› Şirket önümüzdeki hafta yeni ürününü piyasaya sürecek.
Resmi olmayan dilde 'going to' yerine genellikle 'gonna' kullanılır.

・I'm gonna visit you soon.
